RV glass is not car glass. A motorcoach windshield is larger, more upright, more expensive, and on most Class A coaches it is a two-piece unit bedded into a rubber gasket rather than bonded in with urethane. That changes everything about how it is diagnosed, sourced and fitted, and it is why a general auto glass shop will often decline the job or quote it blind.
It also changes the stakes. On a coach, the glass is part of a weather envelope that also includes the gasket, the channel, the surrounding trim and the sealant behind it. Water that gets past any of those does not stay at the window. It runs down inside the wall and shows up later as a soft floor, a stained headliner, or delamination that costs far more than the glass ever would.
If you are searching for RV windshield repair in Las Vegas, the first question worth answering is whether you need a repair at all or a replacement. The honest answer depends on four things: how big the damage is, how deep it goes, where it sits relative to your sight line, and whether it has already started to run.
Four distinct jobs that get lumped together as "glass work". They have very different methods and very different costs.
A chip caught early is a resin injection, not a replacement. The technician cleans the pit, draws the air out of the damage under vacuum, injects resin into the void, then cures it under UV light and polishes the surface flush. Done properly it restores structural continuity to the laminate and stops the crack travelling.
When damage crosses the driver sight line, reaches the edge, or has already run, replacement is the honest answer. On most Class A coaches the windshield is a two-piece unit set into a rubber gasket rather than urethane-bonded like a car, so the job is as much about the gasket, the channel and the seal as it is about the glass.
Coach side glass covers a lot of ground: fixed lounge panes, sliding driver and passenger windows, entry door glass and the smaller opera windows. Failures here are often not the glass at all but the frame seal, the slider track, or a failed dual-pane unit that has fogged because its perimeter seal let go.
Roof vents, bath skylights and hatch domes are the most weather-exposed transparent parts on the coach and the first to fail in desert sun. Acrylic domes go brittle and craze, then crack along a stress line, and the leak that follows shows up as a stain in the ceiling panel a long way from the actual opening.
A two-piece Class A windshield is not a part that sits on a shelf waiting for you. Unlike a car windshield, which fits dozens of makes and years through a handful of common patterns, a coach windshield is specific to the chassis and the front cap it was built into. The two panes are handed, meaning the driver side and passenger side pieces are different parts and cannot be swapped, and the curvature, the mounting flange, and the gasket profile all vary by manufacturer and often by model year within the same manufacturer.
That specificity is why sourcing is usually the part of a windshield replacement that takes the longest, not the installation itself. Some glass is stocked by regional suppliers and can be in hand quickly. Other glass, particularly for older coaches or lower volume manufacturers, has to be ordered against the VIN or the part number stamped into the existing pane, and how long that takes depends entirely on how commonly that specific windshield is made and stocked. We will not quote a delivery date until the exact part has been identified, because guessing at a coach windshield's availability serves nobody.

Mojave conditions are hard on glass and harder on everything holding it in place. Four mechanisms do most of the damage.
A water stain on a ceiling panel does not point straight down at its source. Water travels along the inside of the roof skin, along a rafter, or down a wall cavity before it ever shows itself, so a stain near a window is not proof the window is the problem. Sealant that has cracked or pulled away from a nearby vent, a skylight, or the roof edge trim can send water the same distance and leave an identical mark.
The way to tell them apart is to work backward from the stain rather than assume. A window leak usually shows up during or shortly after rain and tracks with wind direction, because it needs both water and pressure pushing it past a failed gasket. A roof leak tends to show up whenever water sits on the roof long enough to find a gap, rain or wash water either one, and it does not care which way the wind is blowing. Checking the roof sealant around the nearest vents and seams, and the window trim and molding itself, rather than replacing glass on a guess, is the difference between fixing the actual leak and fixing the wrong thing twice.
Either way, the fix has to address the seal, not just the symptom. A window reseal or a spot of roof sealant that skips proper surface preparation tends to fail again within a season in this climate, which is why we look at what let the water in before deciding what to replace.
Look at it in person or from clear photographs. Size, depth, location relative to the driver sight line, and whether the crack has already begun to run all decide repair against replacement.
Identify the glass. Coach glass is rarely a catalogue part. Year, make, model, and often the floor plan determine what fits, and two-piece Class A windshields are handed, so left and right are not interchangeable.
Give you the honest option. If a repair will hold, that is the cheaper answer and we will say so. If it will not, filling it is a false economy because the crack will return.
Deal with the seal, not just the pane. A new windshield in a tired gasket leaks. Replacing glass without addressing the channel, the seal and the surrounding trim is how a glass job turns into a water damage job.
Not every coach can easily get to a shop. If yours is in storage, sitting at an RV park, or has damage severe enough that you would rather not drive it, ask us about working on it where it stands. Chip repair in particular is well suited to being done on site, because it needs little more than clean access to the outside of the glass and shade to control the cure.
Full windshield replacement is a different proposition. It needs space around the front cap, more than one set of hands, and conditions clean enough that grit does not end up under a new gasket. Dual-pane coach windows are two panes of glass separated by a sealed air gap, and that perimeter seal is what fails. Persistent desert heat drives a pressure differential across the seal that eventually breaks it, and once outside air and moisture get into the gap, the fogging is permanent. Cleaning does nothing because the moisture is between the panes, not on either outside surface. The fix is replacing the sealed unit, not the whole window frame.
More often than not the glass itself is fine and the problem is the frame seal, a stretched or torn slider track gasket, or hardware that has loosened enough that the window no longer seats evenly in the frame. Chasing a draft or a rattling window as if it were a glass problem, when the actual fault is the seal or the track, means paying for the wrong repair. We check the frame and the hardware before assuming the glass needs to come out.
It depends entirely on the specific part. Some coach windshields are stocked by regional glass suppliers and can be in hand within days. Yes. Thermal stress cracking happens when one part of the glass heats or cools faster than the rest, which is common on a coach that sits at well over 150 degrees on its windshield surface in afternoon sun and then meets a cold wash or cold rain. That rapid temperature swing puts enough stress on the glass that an existing chip can run, or in some cases a stress crack can start on its own. It looks identical to impact damage but starts from heat rather than a rock.
Both, and it has to. A new windshield set into a tired gasket or a channel that was not cleaned out properly will leak, which turns a glass job into a water damage job. Replacing a two-piece Class A windshield always means dealing with the gasket, the channel and the surrounding trim, not just swapping the pane, and that is reflected in how the job is scoped and quoted.
Glass work often coincides with other jobs, and combining them saves you a second trip. Heat that cracks a windshield is the same heat that strains the rest of the coach. If the roof air is struggling to keep up in August, it is worth having the RV air conditioner service done at the same time, because both the A/C shroud and the windshield gasket are taking the same UV punishment.
The same applies inside. Absorption fridges lose efficiency badly in high ambient temperatures, so if yours has been marginal on hot days, book the RV refrigerator repair alongside the glass work. And if the coach has been parked long enough for the glass to crack sitting still, the generator has probably been sitting too, which is exactly when RV generator repair tends to be needed: carburettors gum, fuel goes stale, and a unit that ran fine in spring will not carry a load in the autumn.
Because a leaking window and a leaking roof present identically from inside, it is also worth having the body seals resealed checked at the same visit. Chasing a stain to the wrong opening wastes everyone's time.
Slide-out seals take the identical UV and thermal punishment as window gaskets, so if the coach has a slide, it is worth having the slide-out wiper seals checked while everything is already open. And if the stain that brought you in turns out to be a roof issue rather than a window issue, ask about a spot roof seal before it becomes a matter for the ceiling panel instead of the outside.
