
A self-service checklist for desert conditions: what to check every three months, what to have serviced once a year, and why the desert makes each one matter.
Three things drive most of the schedule below: sustained heat that loads cooling systems and speeds up battery wear, ultraviolet exposure that hardens seals and gaskets faster than a milder climate would, and a large day-to-night temperature swing that stresses connections and fittings through repeated expansion and contraction. Each item names which of these applies before it names what to check.
Owner-level checks. None of these need a technician, a lift, or specialized tools, just a walk around the coach with a flashlight.
Las Vegas swings from triple-digit afternoons to much cooler nights for most of the year, and that repeated expansion and contraction works terminal connections loose and speeds up corrosion faster than a milder, more stable climate would.
What to do: Look at both terminals for white or greenish buildup, confirm the connections are tight, and clean off any corrosion you find.
