enter image description here How Fresh is your RV Fresh Water Tank?

Insuring clean, safe drinking water in your recreation vehicle is important to your health and requires sanitizing your fresh water system. Proper care and maintenance is a must.

If your RV has been sitting in storage, or has not been used for awhile, the fresh water storage tank, hot water tank and water lines are a great place for bacteria to grow and you don't want that to happen. In order to remove these problems from your RV, you should sanitize your water system.

There’s nothing more important than having a functioning AC unit during an RV road trip through the desert. RV air conditioner maintenance is something our RV service experts recommend all RVers have done at least once per year. A working AC unit makes all the difference during long stretches on the road and hot days spent at an RV resort or boondocking in the desert.

RV FURNACE MAINTENANCE

- comments

enter image description here RV FURNACE MAINTENANCE

Manufacturers recommend running the RV furnace system once a month and having your furnace serviced once a year by our certified RV technicians. If your RV has been in our Indoor Storage, make sure the valve at the propane tank is in the “on” position when you’re ready to utilize the system. At the stove inside the RV, light the stove for about 45 seconds to bleed out any air in the system. As a safety precaution, if it doesn’t light on the first few tries, wait fifteen minutes before trying again. You will also want to make sure your air conditioner outputs are clear of debris and that you change the RV air conditioner filter(s) at least once per year.

LAS VEGAS MOTORCOACH RV FURNACE REPAIR FROM $150 Recommended annually for operating safety & fuel efficiency:

  • CHECK ALL OPERATIONS & TEMPERATURE TEST
  • CLEAN PILOT, BURNER & ORIFICE
  • CLEAN ELECTRODE & HEAT CHAMBER
  • INSPECT LPG LINE & LEAK TEST
  • CHECK THERMOSTAT CONDITION
  • TEST CYCLING UNIT OFF & ON
  • INSTALL NEW FURNACE GASKET, IF NEEDED
  • CHECK ENTIRE UNIT FOR DEBRIS
  • CHECK ANY RECALLS OR UPDATES

enter image description here RV WATER HEATER MAINTENANCE

You can help maintain your RV water heater by checking the vent in the exterior door and making sure it is clear of bugs and debris. Because bug nests, dirt and other debris can sometimes get inside the burner tube, the air fuel mixture can become compromised. Rust can also form inside the burn chamber, which will cause the water heater to become less efficient. We recommend our RV water heater service by our certified RV technicians once a year.

LAS VEGAS RV MOTORCOACH WATER HEATER SERVICE FROM $100 Recommended annually for operating safety & fuel efficiency:

  • CHECK WATER HEATER OPERATION IN ALL MODES
  • CLEAN PILOT, IGNITER AND BURNER ASSEMBLY
  • CHECK AND ADJUST AIRFLOW & ELECTRODES
  • DRAIN WATER & FLUSH ANY SEDIMENTS
  • INSPECT ANODE ROD AND POP OFF VALVE CONDITIONS

enter image description here RV REFRIGERATOR & STOVE MAINTENANCE

Inside your refrigerator, you’ll want to make sure the seals stay clean and that you leave the door slightly ajar when you store your RV to prevent any bad smells from accumulating. Since your stove and oven are propane systems, you’ll want to ensure that they are clean and clear of debris. Additionally, the access to the refrigerator in the exterior of the coach needs to be properly cleaned. A 12-month maintenance interval is recommended for the refrigerator and stove.

LAS VEGAS RV REFRIGERATOR REPAIR FROM $75 Annual recommendation to maximize efficiency and life span:

  • VERIFY OPERATION IN ALL MODES
  • CLEAN BURNER, FLUE, ORIFICE & BAFFLE

enter image description hereMAINTAINING YOUR RV GENERATOR

KEEP TRACK OF THE HOUR METER Keeping track of the hour meter effects how frequently the oil should be changed, you’ll want to keep track of RV generator usage hours to prevent any future service issues.

CHANGE YOUR OIL, FILTERS AND FLUIDS Manufacturers recommend changing the oil in your new RV generator after the first 50 hours, and then every 150 hours after that. When changing the oil, it is recommended that the oil filter be changed, and coolant levels be topped off. Because the generator air filter affects the efficiency and life of the generator, you’ll want to be sure it is replaced at least every 500 hours of usage.

RUN YOUR GENERATOR FREQUENTLY Even if you’ve put your RV in storage for the off-season at 24/7 Indoor Storage, you’ll still need to run your generator for at least one hour every 3-4 weeks to keep fuel from gumming up the generator. Our techs can turn on the air conditioner or other large appliances to make sure the generator is running at 50% load capacity or more. Contact 24/7 Indoor Storage *(http://24-7indoorstorage.com/) for current power rates @ 702-296-1515.

DON’T REMOVE THE COVERS While it may seem counterintuitive when you feel the heat from your exterior RV generator, you shouldn’t remove the front cover or any of the other main covers while the generator is running. This will not cool down your generator. In fact, the covers are arranged to promote air flow, so any movement can end up causing problems with the engine.

The best way to extend the life of your RV generator is to have it professionally serviced every 12 months or less. At 24/7 MotorCoach Service Center, our RV Service Experts take care of everything from replacing the filters to inspecting the generator exhaust.

LAS VEGAS RV MOTORCOACH GENERATOR SERVICE FROM $149 Price may vary due to parts needed or replacements

  • VISUAL INSPECTION OF EXHAUST SYSTEM
  • VERIFY CO DETECTOR OPERATIONS AND WORKING PROPERLY
  • CHECK AIR & FUEL FILTER (REPLACE IF NECESSARY FOR ADDITIONAL CHARGE)

Change your RV’s fluids Change your RV’s fluids

Unlike a car that you do regular maintenance to every 3,000-5,000 miles, an RV tends to sit a lot. It’s important that you do oil changes on a seasonal basis just to make sure that everything is lubricated and running to the best of its ability. For RVs, it’s recommended to change your oil every 3,000-4,000 miles or every year (spring is a great time). If you don’t change the oil, your RV will receive excessive wear and tear on its engine and may require expensive service or even lead you to purchasing a new engine.

Replace the air, fuel, coolant, and hydraulic filters in your RV.

Similar to changing your RV’s oils, you need to change the air, fuel, coolant, and hydraulic filters in your RV on a seasonal basis. Usually, we recommend inspections of the air filter, fuel filter, coolant, and hydraulic filters at every oil change. Similar to not changing the oil, you could have excessive wear and tear to your RV’s engine and on the drive train of the RV.

Keep your RV’s awning maintained Keep your RV’s awning maintained.

It’s important to keep your RV’s awning clean so you don’t get mildew and mold buildup. By inspecting it on a regular basis you can catch and repair any possible tears early on before they start to grow larger. If you don’t clean off your awning during an RV trip, debris and other items could build up, get stuck and tear the fabric. Depending on what type of damage is done to your awning, a tear in the fabric could cost up to $600. Replacing the awning itself is over $1,300.

Clean and treat your RV’s slide outs and seals Clean and treat your RV’s slide outs and seals.

Slide outs need to be cleaned regularly to avoid dirt build up in and around the seals. Otherwise your slide out could cause problems sealing your RV. To clean your RV’s slide out, you want to lubricate the slider mechanisms to make sure that they run in and out with the least amount of wear and tear on the motors. For window seals, there are also lubricants that you can use around the rubber to help keep them fresh and pliable so that they create good seals. In addition, it allows easy movement of the windows up and down and side to side. If your windows start to catch, the felt that they slide on could begin to tear and require a replacement.

Keep waste water system in good condition Keep waste water system in good condition.

Maintenance of your RV’s waste water system includes making sure that you are using chemicals that are designed to work with each system, whether it be gray water or black water systems. In addition, you need to use adequate amounts of fluid to start the system after flushing, and make sure that you flush the system on a regular basis. If you don’t maintain your RV’s water system, you will get excessive amounts of buildup, which may cause clogging of the system, failure of operation, and valves seizing.

enter image description here Check your RV’s batteries.

The last thing you want to happen on your camping trip is a dead RV battery. Some batteries have water levels and some are maintenance free. The goal for an RV’s battery is that you do your best to keep it fully charged at all times. Batteries tend to last 3-5 years. After three years, a deep-cycle battery (towable RVs) starts to lose capacity. After five years, a start-type battery (drivable RVs) starts to loose capacity.

To make sure that your batteries and your electrical system is running in tip-top shape, contact the pro's at 24/7 MotorCoach Service Center!

enter image description here Tighten your RV’s wheel lug nuts and check tire pressure.

Before your RV trip, tighten your lug nuts and check tire pressure to ensure safety on the road. Check your wheels lug nuts to make sure they haven’t loosened up during travel or while in storage. Driving with loose lug nuts is dangerous and could lead to losing a wheel on the road. In addition, checking your RV’s tire pressure is important because overinflated tires may explode, doing damage to your RV, and possibly causing you to get into an accident on the road. Underinflated tires are also dangerous, creating control problems and generating more resistance on the road, which effects your gas mileage. Tire pressure changes as temperature increases and decreases, so if your RV has been sitting all winter, your tire pressure will have significantly dropped creating an unsafe and fuel inefficient ride.

Be sure to inspect your RV’s roof seals and seams for leaks every three months. Water finds open seams in edges, vents, skylights, and a/s unit and will soak your wood framework and ceiling panels creating serious water damage. There are a number of sealants you can use to patch up your RV’s roof leak. It is important that you use a sealant compatible with the material of your RV’s roof. RV roof materials can range from: Fiberglass, Metal, EPDM (Rubber), TPO, and ALFA.
